What I'm Doing Now

This is my /now page, inspired by Derek Sivers. It's a snapshot of what I'm focused on right now.

✍️ Writing

I'm writing more than I have in years.

Alcolandia has become the home for most of it. I'm writing about technology, music, history, travel, skepticism, and whatever happens to send me down a rabbit hole.

Lately, a lot of those rabbit holes have involved archaeology and human history.

🏛️ Archaeology & History

I recently returned from Europe, including several days exploring Malta's prehistoric sites.

That trip only made the obsession worse.

I've been spending a lot of time reading and thinking about early humans, ancient societies, migration, archaeology, and especially the line between what the evidence actually tells us and what we merely imagine.

🎸 Music & Magic

I'm still writing and playing music and continuing my study of composition.

I've also returned seriously to magic after many years away from it. I'm studying Juan Tamariz, working on Mnemonica, practicing cards again, and rediscovering an art that was a huge part of my life when I was younger.

💻 Coding & AI

AI has become part of how I work every day.

After more than 30 years of programming, I'm fascinated by watching software development change again — and experimenting with what becomes possible when one person can build things that previously required much larger teams.

I'm still working with the team at Yiftee.

📚 Reading

My reading pile currently wanders between archaeology, anthropology, philosophy, neuroscience, technology, music and magic.

There is no plan. One book usually leads to three more.

😴 Life

I'm sleeping more, working at a saner rhythm, writing constantly, playing guitar, practicing magic, building software and following whatever subject has managed to hijack my curiosity this week.

That's pretty much where I am right now.
